When can Brushing Your Teeth be Harmful?

It’s time to play the Forestream Dental quiz called, To Tell the Tooth.

Today’s question: When can brushing your teeth be harmful?

Now, I know this sounds strange, but there are a couple of brushing habits that can actually hurt your teeth.

Number one, brushing right after a meal. High acid food such as tea, coffee or juices, can actually make your teeth enamel become weaker for a period of time. And, if you brush immediately after eating these foods, you can damage your teeth.

Number two, brushing with a stiff toothbrush. This can irritate your gums and is less effective. So the best policy is to wait 30 minutes after eating and then brush with a soft-bristle toothbrush.

And there is one more thing I would like you to know: Forestream Dental is a No Judgment Zone dental practice. That means no lectures and no attitude about the condition of your teeth, just a sincere desire to help you achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. So come on in for a checkup. In the long run, it will save you time, pain and money. And that’s the tooth.
